I will overwhelm 'credible boxer' Paul - Joshua
The British boxer is set to fight the American YouTuber in an eight-round contest which will be broadcast live on Netflix.
Briton Anthony Joshua declared he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "break" his opponent as the combatants came face-to-face to promote next month's bout.
Former twice unified boxing king Anthony Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge disparity - at Miami's arena on December 19th.
Boxer's Mindset
"I plan to damage his features and damage his physique. I aim to demonstrate I'm superior," Joshua, 35 years old, stated.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.
"I will genuinely try to cause him pain. That's what I want to do."
Civil Interaction
In spite of these statements, a relaxed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Paul - normally known for his theatrics - shared friendly words and maintained decorum with each other.
Jake Paul instead attacked ex Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and called him "a joke" after Ngannou declined a fight offer.
Taking Aim at Tyson Fury
Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, criticized British opponent Fury - and refused a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' states he will put on a Paul win.
"Jake Paul outshines Fury - he's actually sitting here," the boxer commented.
"I give him credit for that."
Legitimate Fighter
In spite of saying he intends to damage his opponent, Joshua chose not to talk badly about his rival's fighting skills.
"Jake Paul is a serious fighter," he remarked.
Jake Paul's Background
Paul - who initially became famous on the Disney Channel - has mostly boxed mixed martial artists or past-their-prime fighters since entering professional boxing.
He lost to British fighter Fury in 2023.
Commercial Attraction
Still, the inexperienced fighter is still one of boxing's largest financial successes, regularly earning huge paydays.
Forecast and Belief
The 28-year-old forecast a knockout win in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would derail the highly-expected Fury-Joshua bout, which is allegedly in the works for two years from now.
"The next fight will be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Paul stated.
Physical Disparity
As the two fighters engaged in the traditional confrontation, with their physical disparity clearly visible, it drove home just how improbable this whole event is - and how remarkable it is that the bout is really going ahead.
